And in their death they were not divided;
they were swifter than eagles,
they were stronger than lions . . .

How often are we to die before we go right off this stage?
In every friend we lose a part of ourselves, and the best part.

Wonderful, thought provoking quotes. The death of the Polish President and the First Lady is achingly tragic, and as I watched the people of Poland mourn the death of their beloved leader and his wife, I could not help but feel their pain.
A very tragic event; it was wonderful how they all came together as one, forgetting grievances, to mourn.
The Alexander Pope quote is wonderful and at our stage of life (hubby and I), we're experiencing it more often.
A beautiful tribute, Egmont.
An elegant dignity and ache in this ... thank you.
What a heartbreaking time for the beautiful people of Poland... roxanne
Contemplative.
"In every friend we lose a part of ourselves, and the best part."
This sentence lingers.
Beautiful tribute, Egmont, and you're right to highlight this tragedy. I fear this loss will haunt the Polish people for times to come.
